About Genistein
Genistein is the predominant isoflavone in soya beans, tofu, tempeh and other soya foods. It has weak oestrogen-like activity (phyto-oestrogen) and is studied for effects on bone health and menopausal symptoms.
No deficiency disease; not an essential nutrient.
Intakes from food are considered safe. Very high supplement doses are not recommended during pregnancy or for people with hormone-sensitive conditions without medical advice.
Only 60 of 1136 foods in the database have a recorded value for Genistein. The ranked list below shows what we have — foods not in the list simply haven't been measured yet rather than containing none.
