Exactly what cookies Nutriofia sets, why, and what each one does — nothing hidden.
Nutriofia uses strictly necessary cookies only. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or any cookies that share your data with third parties.
We have deliberately self-hosted all fonts and scripts (including Bootstrap and DM Sans) so that no request is ever made to Google Fonts, jsDelivr, or any external CDN when you visit our pages. Your browser communicates only with Nutriofia's own server.
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device when you visit. It allows the site to remember information between page loads — for example, whether you are logged in.
Cookies set by the website you are visiting are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by other companies (Google, Facebook, advertising networks) are called third-party cookies. Nutriofia sets only first-party cookies.
localStorage is a similar browser storage mechanism — it stores data on your device but is never sent to our server. We use it to remember your display preference (light or dark theme) and to record that you have dismissed the cookie notice bar.
The table below lists every cookie or browser storage item that Nutriofia may set on your device.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration | Set by |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PHPSESSID | Strictly necessary | Your session identifier. Set by PHP, the language our server runs on. It stores a random ID — nothing personal — that links your browser to your session data on the server. It allows us to know you are logged in, enforce the rate limiter that protects the site from automated scraping, and remember your admin status. Without this cookie the site cannot function. | Until you close your browser | Nutriofia server |
| nf-theme | localStorage | Your display preference. Remembers whether you have chosen light or dark theme. Stored only in your browser's localStorage — never sent to our server, contains no personal information. | Until you clear browser storage | Your browser only |
| nf_cookie_ok | localStorage | Cookie notice dismissed. A simple flag set when you click "Got it" on the cookie notice bar. Prevents the notice reappearing on future visits. Contains no personal information and is never sent to our server. | Until you clear browser storage | Your browser only |
Many websites load resources from external services — Google Fonts, Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel — which causes those companies to set their own cookies on your device and receive your IP address without your direct knowledge.
Nutriofia does not do this. Specifically:
Your IP address is processed by our hosting provider (Krystal Hosting, UK) and by Cloudflare (used for DDoS protection and CDN caching) solely for the purpose of delivering the site to you. Cloudflare's privacy policy · Krystal's privacy policy.
Because we use only strictly necessary cookies, there is no consent mechanism to withdraw — strictly necessary cookies cannot be switched off without breaking the site's core function (login, security, rate limiting).
However, you can:

Our use of the PHPSESSID session cookie is exempt from the requirement to obtain consent under Regulation 6(4) of the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), as it is strictly necessary to provide a service explicitly requested by the user.
The localStorage items (nf-theme, nf_cookie_ok) are also strictly necessary for functionality you have actively chosen and do not process personal data.
