Medium rosé wine (typically 11-13% ABV) is made by brief maceration of red grape skins, giving it a pink colour and some of the tannins and anthocyanins of red wine but in smaller quantities. A 175ml glass contains around 1.9-2.3 units and 130-150 kcal. Medium rosé has some residual sugar, giving a slightly sweeter palate than dry styles.
Rosé is typically best served chilled (8-12°C) and consumed young; unlike red wine it does not benefit from ageing. Dry styles have fewer residual sugars and fewer calories than medium.
