Instant mashed potato made up with whole milk is dehydrated potato rehydrated with boiling whole milk, adding fat, protein, calcium, and vitamins A, D, and B12 compared to the water-only version. It is a more nutritionally complete preparation providing around 80–100 kcal/100g. Whole milk adds creaminess and improves palatability while contributing useful dairy nutrition.
Using warm (not boiling) milk produces a smoother, creamier result without making the mash gluey. Season well and serve immediately — instant mash made with milk thickens quickly on standing.
